Eau de vie (2016)

with Lucia Kasiarová, Peter Savel, Tomás Vtípil, Zuzana Mánisová, You

Eau de vie is not a performance. It is a shared experience. We invite you, and you join at a certain time of the day. We will create and experience a ritual together. We see the ritual as a journey to myself, and from myself to the others, and from the others to myself. We can each hold space for the other at all times, and we do only and exactly that which the ritual asks. We begin when we begin. We will taste, and then, maybe something will happen.

Eau de vie has several stages: We come to your space for at least three days. We invite the members of your organization or community to join us in a morning practice (i.e. a workshop of self-discovery, accessing creativity and potential). In the afternoon, we practice our ritual, and we invite you to join. After that, we see together if there is a wider community around your organization who could join the ritual. We decide together what the best setup is.

Eau de vie is a challenge to artistic creation, to the product-focused setup of artistic residencies. Eau de vie is a space for us to share an experience together.

As long as holding hands (2015)

created with Peter Savel and Tereza Ondrová

This is the second duet for Peter and Tereza. After ”Boys Who Like To Play With Dolls”, they take a trip this time into the world of love and its complex forms - once again, however, they remain engaged in purely physically ways.

A performance about two beings who pass each other, search for each other, listen to each other, and experience: They are together, but they are each somewhere else; they do and do not understand each other; they try to talk, to shout, to laugh; they trust each other; they fail; they don't give up; they continue. Curious and naive, trying always to be close in their togetherness, they remain in separate universes while next to one another, but they’re always holding hands. As long as holding hands...

Project is being created in an international co-production of  Tanec Praha (Cz), Centre Choreographique National Roubaix                Nord Pas de Calais (FR) and NorlandsOperan, Umea(SWE).

In colors that do not exist (2015)

created by Peter Savel with Eleanor Campbell, Meri Pajunpää, Víctor Pérez Armero with assistance of Colline Etienne

The piece "In colors that do not exist" enters a universe of human wilderness gradually, and it invites us ever so gently on a journey inside of it. Three devoted dancers are, both naively and intensely, breaking apart social structures. Indeed, through their bodies and their dancing, they continuously establish surprising collisions of personal narratives. Driven by a musical score they cannot escape, they constantly submit to what they experience vividly, and they consequently encounter intense, immersive states that we cannot resist being empathetic. Through their collective experience in this piece, our imaginations blossom.

BAKKHEIA - dancing on the edge (2014)

created by Peter Savel with Sonja Feriencikova, Tereza Odrova, Gyula Cserepes

BAKKHEIA is a dance performance working with the thin border between what we perceive as crazy (i.e. as bodily sickness, as foolish behavior, as autistic condition) and as genius (i.e. as free, child- or animal-like, as honest and unrestricted).

In the performance, three dancers offer their bodies to an endless transformation, an ongoing circle, a morphing voyage of solitude. Coming close to each other, they touch, they attempt to communicate, but they always fall into the discrepancy of contexts that they propose.

How do we communicate now? Do we really talk about the same things? Do we listen and understand, or do we just reply? We constantly repeat our own statements, each on our own, each with “smart technology” - so close to one another and yet so lonely. Is this an absolute solitude, or does the human animal push through even the thickest shield of social norms?

Boys who like to play with dolls  (2013)

created by Peter Savel with Tereza Ondrová

Welcome to the fantasy world in which the principles of what is “masculine” and what is “feminine” may not be the same as what is “man” and what is “woman”! This project results from the creative meeting of two very distinct choreographers and performers. For them, in this work, pure movement and dance are the means to express contrast between unadulterated expressions of body and soul, between genetic givens and social prejudices, in a shared attempt to challenge social stereotypes and explore themes of gender in the body.

Shifts (2013)

Created by Peter Savel with Kamil Mihalov

“Shifts” is a play with the discrepancy between rational structure and it’s consequential, emotional traces. Two performers do their best to fulfill the goals of tasks, but they keep their distance, playing it cool. At what level - if any - is that possible? Until what point can that be? The only strategy at hand seems to be unrelenting pursuit and a constant shifting from variation to variation - a very human strategy which inevitably leads us all to frustration.
